CLASSES
ACT UP, ACT BIG
(class code LB2) - Instructor: Denni Don Hunting
For ages 9 to 13. Larger-than-life characters are par for the course in musical theatre! Training for this class will include how to have a strong stage presence and how to be loud without injuring your voice. Comic timing and improvisation are also covered. This class is part of the Li’l Broadway program and can be used to fulfill the acting prerequisite for the December 2012 musical. Thursdays 4:00 to 6:00, February 2 to March 8. Tuition: $95
BECOMING AN ACTOR
(class code BC 4) - Instructor: Chad Hoover
For ages 8 to 12. The job of the actor is to analyze the script for action and then truthfully act out the scene under the imaginary circumstances of the play. This class will focus upon acting technique and the tools an actor uses for the stage; which will include character development, analyzing and preparing for a scene, rote memorization of the script, and playing off/reacting to fellow actors in the scene. At the end of the course, students will be broken up into several small groups to present short scenes highlighting these techniques. Thursdays 4:30 to 6:00, February 2 to March 8. Tuition: $95
DANCE & PLAY
(class code BC2) - Instructor: Kat Brown
For ages 6 to 10 years. Children love to move and Kat introduces youngsters to the joy of dancing. Through fun music and silly routines, students move, dance, create and generally have fun! A great introduction to theatrical dance. Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:00. January 31 to March 6. Tuition: $60
DANCE FOR THE STAGE
(class code LB3) - Instructor: Mychelle Hopkins
For ages 9 and up. Theatrical Dance draws from Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Tap, Gymnastics and even Hip Hop. Learn Broadway styles, steps and routines to some of the greatest “show music” of all time. This class is part of the Li’l Broadway program and can be used to fulfill the dance prerequisite for the December 2012 musical. Thursdays 4:30 to 6:00, February 2 to March 8. Tuition: $95
INTRO TO ACTING & THEATRE
(class code BC3) - Instructor: Denni Don Hunting
For ages 7 to 8 years. This beginning class will focus on stage vocabulary, movement, character study, scene work, vocal work and improvisation. Theatre games will be used to teach and reinforce lessons. There will be a short presentation at the end of the course. Wednesdays 4:30 to 5:30, February 1 to March 7. Tuition: $60
SINGING FOR MUSICAL THEATRE
(class code LB1) - instructor: Matt Archibald
For ages 8 to 13. This course is designed for students who wish to develop a basic knowledge of singing. We will focus on the acting aspect of song preparation, including presentation and general vocal coaching. This class is part of the Li’l Broadway program and can be used to fulfill the singing prerequisite for the December 2012 musical. Mondays 4:30 to 6:00, January 30 to March 5. Tuition: $95
SPEECH MATTERS
(class code BC 5) - Instructor: Debbie Hershey
For ages 13 to 16. Public speaking and presentation are essential skills for college and job interviews, classroom presentations and even auditions. This class will focus on the basics of public speaking including: voice placement and inflection, preparation, connecting with an audience, body movement, and getting over fears related to public speaking. Use your drama skills in presentation, and learn this special art in a fun, supportive environment. Tuesdays 4:30 to 6:00, January 31 to March 6. Tuition: $95
STORY BOOKS TO LIFE
(class code BC1) - Instructor: Kat Brown
For ages 5 to 6 years. This exciting class takes make-believe to the next level! Lessons will focus on the child’s innate desire to pretend and cultivates them into true acting skills. Communication and sequencing skills are also enhanced with the use of dramatic play, movement and music. Tuesdays from 5:00 to 6:00, January 31 to March 6. Tuition: $60

Meet the OTP's Education Director, Mychelle Hopkins.
Mychelle holds her Master’s Degree from the prestigious Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon, England where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar. She has received critical acclaim as a Director and Actress both regionally and internationally.
