Concessions Volunteer
Sells snacks and beverages to patrons from the concessions window before a MainStage performance and during intermission.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend one training session with the Concessions Coordinator or Box Office Manager prior to your first shift each season to cover payment processes and technologies.
- Confirm volunteer dates with the Concessions Coordinator (usually using the Front of House online volunteer management platform).
- Report to Box Office Manager before your shift to collect the cash bag.
- Wear black clothing and your OTP name badge (provided in the concessions area) while you are at the concessions window.
- Create a safe, friendly, welcoming atmosphere for all patrons attending the performance.
- Be ready to open the concessions window and start sales one hour prior to showtime (so arrive about 80 minutes before showtime). Return to the concessions window 5 minutes, or at an appropriate break in the performance as determined by the Front of House (FoH) Manager, before intermission.
- Be able to describe the current concessions offerings available to patrons.
- Make reasonably quick and accurate sales using cash or mobile credit card terminals.
- Alert the FoH Manager of any notable concerns or incidents.
- Reorganize the concessions area after intermission. Leave the concessions area at least as well organized as you found it.
- Deposit the cash bag in the slot in the hallway (into the office) after intermission.
Expectations
- You will be treated with respect and dignity by all production staff, administration and other volunteers, and we expect the same from you.
- You may watch as much of the performance during your shift as possible and seating allows.
